The importance of working with a good agency

The team are currently looking ahead to the 2019 publications. I’ve recently updated the tender briefs and met with agencies.

As the HE landscape becomes more competitive, we need to find different ways to engage with our audiences and ensure our campaigns and publications work harder to showcase the benefits of studying at Bedfordshire. This is why working with a good agency on these projects becomes ever more important. Working with great agencies is imperative; an agency needs to understand the sector and challenges within HE but also the challenges and direction of the University.

We realise that as the landscape changes, we as a university are becoming more demanding in our requirements and expectations of agencies. And also being a marketing team of three, means we’re looking for an agency that can very much be an extension of the team whilst supporting us on our publication projects; from quickly understanding our needs and reacting through creative solutions, to seamless project management, which in turn makes our job that little bit easier.

3 steps to finding the right agency:
We're currently testing our undergraduate
2018 prospectus, to see what
prospective students think

  • Look for companies who have sector experience – they need hit the ground running but also come up with solid creative approaches to briefs
  • Set up an initial chat – meet with agencies to find out more about them and also give them an opportunity to find out more about you. This in turn will mean should they tender, there creative approaches will hopefully match the brief and give us something to consider/worth with
  • Be specific – be clear on what is it you need/expect from an agency. Make sure briefs are clear and take into account market research (we’re currently testing the UG 2018 publication). Tenders should also allow you to showcase relevant proof points, to ensure agencies are capable of delivering what is needed

It’s also important not to expect a ‘readymade’ creative solution to briefs – when we meet new agencies we want to see a clear rationale for design concepts being presented, and a good understanding of the audience and the brief set. We’re then happy to take a readymade option – if one is presented – or work with the appointed agency to develop a design approach.

So as we embark on the 2019 publication tender, I’m excited to see what agencies can bring to the table!

Speak soon,
K

The other side of the table

So, if anyone reading this studied Advertising and Marketing Communications (or a similar subject), like me, at university you’ll know the feeling of pretending to work in an agency, creating a solution to a brief and then preparing and presenting your solution to your “client” (/university lecturers). Well, a few weeks ago I got to sit on the other side of the table and listen to various agencies pitch their ideas to us as part of our tender process for the 2017 prospectuses. It was a really interesting and great experience for me to be part of this and to see the different dynamics of the agencies and the various approaches to our brief. Over the course of the day we definitely saw some really great ideas and by the end of the day my creativity levels were on over-drive! And, as scary as it is to think that we’re already thinking about the 2017 prospectuses, I’m really excited to start the process. Although I have worked on the 2016 PG prospectus, this will be the first time I have worked on a project like this from tender to print!

 View the video here
As part of my role I produce the monthly PG e-zine, PG Life. This month I met with Prof. Karen Randell, head of Media Arts and Production, to film a video about the PG courses available and the facilities that we have. I hadn’t been to the TV studio here at Beds so I was really excited to go over and see what it was all about! I was really impressed with the facilities available and it was great to hear from Karen about the various opportunities available to our students.

I’ve also been working on the Students’ Guide to University and the Parents’ Guide to University applicants as well as producing some bookmarks and postcards for our open day events coming up (don’t forget to book your place). I really enjoy working with our designers; sending them a brief and seeing it come together! As well as producing promotional materials for the open days I've also been writing content for our CRM site, Facebook and Twitter accounts and creating e-newsletters.

I almost forgot to mention Clearing! The office has been a bit quieter the last couple of weeks as the admissions team have gone over to the PG centre with a specialised Clearing team to help students with any Clearing queries they may have. The Recruitment team are also out and about at various events promoting Beds. I keep seeing our stand when I go into town on my lunch break (must.stop.spending...) and it looks like there's so much going on, so if you see it make sure you get involved!

What's my name again? Clearing, campaigns and creative pitches - all in a days work

By Sarah Hampton, Marketing Manager

What's my name? Where do I live? What do I do? What day is it? These are just some of the many questions you'll find us asking ourselves over the next few weeks. With the mad Clearing rush in full force, all of the days start to blur into one. The multi-tasking marketers strike again...

We're making it happen for many
students who we hope to join this Sept!
Clearing...
And so Clearing has finally begun for many students in search of that university place. But for us over in Marketing, Clearing has been high on our agenda for months now. Although results day was all but yesterday, planning for this infamous campaign first started way back in November, so it's great for us to finally see the campaign taking shape, and to hear the busy phone lines ringing, whilst we constantly refresh our dashboards to track our performance and make adjustments to our campaign targeting.

Whilst Clearing often ensues months of organised chaos, I always particularly enjoy the chance for us marketers to do what we do best - be creative! Each year in Clearing, we have the opportunity to trial new innovations and initiatives to grab the headlines, boost traction in the media, and beguile and inspire the minds of our audience. Following on from last year's Flash mob, we've had heaps of fun working with the press team to launch some Guerrilla marketing techniques in the run up to results day; this involved projecting our marketing messages and campaign creatives on to a series of buildings and landmarks. If you haven't already seen it, check it out below...

Our nice and new shiny
shell scheme

We've also been supporting the Recruitment team as they gear up to lead a series of community events in a whole host of locations, including: Luton, Bedford, Milton Keynes and London. You can see left, a new shell scheme which I put together (design wise of course - I can not take any credit for assembling the actual thing, and so a big well done is due to recruitment for overcoming the ultimate flat pack challenge). These 'Pods' as well call them lead on our verbal brand themes, and this nice, new piece of kit enables the team to offer more engaging and interactive sessions with the local community - providing a real insight into what exciting subjects we offer. So I'm really looking forward to seeing how the team gets on.

Campaigns...
Whilst Clearing remains at the forefront of our minds for the next few weeks, we've already been looking ahead and turning our attention to our 2016 enquirer recruitment, which we officially started back in March. The photoshoots have taken place, the artwork is almost finalised, and the plan is moments away from being approved (I'll get round to it shortly, I'm sure!). But if working on two consecutive intakes and recruitment cycles isn't fun enough, let's throw a third one in there for good measure shall we? Yes, not only are we working on 2015 and 2016 recruitment, but we are well away and are already working on our 2017 marketing. And this comes in the form of our publications tender which took place this week, over at the Putteridge Bury campus.

And creative pitches
I always enjoy the publications tenders. Whilst the admin aspect can take a lot of time, it's really refreshing to meet the different agencies, and see how they respond to the challenges and brief that you set. This tender was particularly interesting, as 4 of the 5 agencies were entirely new to us. So we set out on a fact finding mission to grill each company in turn, to make sure we haven't just got a stand out creative, but the man power behind it to deliver it. Although a long day, the panel had lots of fun, and came away feeling inspired. Keep a look out in future posts for more on this - as we'll share more, once the agency has been appointed.

For now, it's the end of my blog post, and back to the day job and the ever growing list of things to do before my holiday (woo - 2 weeks to go!). So whilst I'm slowly getting excited, there still seems to be an awful lot to do before that holiday milestone even starts to begin to feel like it's within my reach - right, back to work - what year is it again?

New year, new initiatives

By Sarah Hampton, Marketing Manager

Happy New Year! Well, we're finally back after the Xmas break, and already there is loads to tell you. But before bringing you up to speed I thought I'd share some pre-Xmas updates with you.

The CST staff away day
Just before the Christmas break I was invited by the Department of Computer Science and Technology (CST) to deliver a presentation at their staff away day on how to improve recruitment to their undergraduate courses. So, with only two days to prepare, and having never delivered a presentation to such a large group, I set about harassing all the other Managers in the MARC department to dig deep for the latest market research, application figures, recruitment initiatives, and web developments. Before I knew it the day had arrived and I found myself standing on a stage in front of the entire department. After overcoming a few technical difficulties (and by that I mean there being no laptop!) and we were ready to go. The presentation went really well, and all of the staff were really engaged and interested to see what market intelligence we could share with them. From where their applicants come from and the schools they attend, to what their most popular/viewed course is online and what factors may influence their decision; it was all in there.

One of our newsletters:
Art & Design
Now that we're in 2014 our attention has turned to conversion: whereby we encourage our applicants to select us as either their Firm (1st place) or Insurance (second place) choice. So a lot of work is currently underway preparing a range of marketing materials to send out straight after the 15 January 2014 UCAS deadline. For the last few months we've been working on producing a series of departmental newsletters (see left) which provide the latest information, achievements and happenings from the applicants' area of interest. We've also got our bloggers up and running for most subjects (thanks to the Digital Team) which consists of current undergraduate students posting about their experience and what they get up to as a student.

Work is well underway on the 2015 Undergraduate Prospectus. We're now at 2nd proof stage and so the team is busy working away; proofing, sourcing outstanding information, chasing new course copy and selecting relevant new photography to keep us on track for our print deadline. It's all starting to take shape; so check back here in early February and when it's approved for print, and you can get an exclusive first look at the cover.

In other news, award season will soon be upon us, with the deadline for the CIPR Excellence awards only a mere 7 weeks away. So, hopefully we can get some of the above tied up fairly soon, so we can turn our attention to writing some award entries. After all, a good dinner and dress up will be a great way to celebrate all of our hard work after getting the prospectus off to print. Which is no easy task!

Here's hoping we can get some entries in!

Full of pride after going for Gold

By Sarah Hampton, Marketing Manager

It wouldn't be a typical week at work if we didn't have some form of urgent job to do. And this week was certainly no different, with the urgent task taking the form of a January start campaign. Here in the Marketing team we do love a good challenge and so we set about planning and preparing for this marketing push. Our freelancer Pippa was devising the activity itself, and so we have been busying ourselves with arranging and scheduling a photoshoot that will form the creative for the campaign. Easy you say? Think again.

Marketing meets Freshers
Left to right: Michelle, Forrest, Pippa, Bayleigh, Max,
Anita, and Me!
Since the ITV2 show, Freshers, had just finished showing on TV, we decided to link our campaign with the story of the freshers' that we had been avidly watching for the last three weeks on our screens, as they settle into student life at Bedfordshire. A few phone calls and emails later and we had a photographer booked, and all four freshers confirmed. Now all we had to do was source the locations, devise a shot list and brief the digital team on filming requirements.

Each of the freshers did an excellent job and gave up a lot of their time to take part in our photoshoot. It was a packed day, with back-to-back photography sessions, but boy were we impressed with the end result... I must confess that we absolutely loved meeting Forrest, and even managed to get a sneaky picture with the freshers before the end of the day - all for the purposes of blog writing and informing our audience, of course (see above).

You'll see our January campaign taking shape over the next few weeks, so as it goes live we'll share the creatives with you - and do let us know what you think!

In other news, we attended the Thames and Chiltern CIPR PRide awards on Friday (1 Nov) at Sopwell House in St Albans as we were up for Best External Publication for our 2013 Postgraduate Prospectus. We were joined by the Digital Marketing team who were short-listed for Best use of Digital, and Best use of Social Media.

Celebrating our award success on centre stage
Left to right: Lauren, me, Andy, Elisabeth and Paul
Our Digital Marketing team won awards in both of their categories: with a Silver for our Corporate film in the Best use of Digital category, and won an impressive Gold accolade for Best use of Social Media in our Clearing campaign - a massive congratulations! And we were amazed and absolutely thrilled to also win not just one, but two Gold awards, even though we only entered one category! In addition to bagging a Gold award for our Postgraduate Prospectus, we were awarded an additional Gold award from the judges for Best use of Research, Planning, Measurement and Evaluation, for the Postgraduate Prospectus (which made me very pleased to see that all of that number crunching and analysis hasn't gone un-noticed). However, Lauren and I were still in celebration mode after winning Gold earlier in the evening and actually missed this announcement. So, after a short nudge from Paul, our Digital Marketing Manager, and we swiftly made our way in a rather dazed state to receive the award. Indeed a fabulous evening! Read our award-winning entry here.
Supporting our Business academics
over at Bedford
In and amongst all of the above, I managed to squeeze in some time to join our Business academics over at the Bedford campus. I was invited to sit on an assessment panel for our final year students who were tasked with presenting a business case for a charity event to raise money - it was great to hear about their project management, as well as their innovative ideas for the actual event itself, and generating awareness for their cause, but most importantly (for me anyway) their marketing and how they were ensuring ROI.

Finally, I'm pleased to share with you that we have now been joined by our new Marketing Assistant, Clare O'Brien, and so we've been busy setting up inductions and introducing Clare to the wider MARC team, kicking off with an obligatory welcome lunch at none other than Pizza Express. Clare's joined us at a great time, as we're just about to get going with the 2015 Undergraduate Prospectus. What better way to find out about the University, than by researching, writing and arranging photoshoots all around campus?

Stepping out the office

by Michelle Ramsumair, Marketing Administrator

Starting work when it's dark enough outside to still sleep definitely tells me it's almost time for those delicious limited edition Costa hot beverages. The beautiful festival of lights is also approaching on the 03 November. For all those celebrating I wish you a very happy Diwali in advance. Next Halloween and Christmas!

Weeks are flying and it's almost time for my holiday, but more on that at a much later date. In the meantime the team are working hard in one of the busiest times of the year. We mostly remain in our office, but all our hard work can be be seen by those outside. Our second wave of the Winter Campaign is about to start so make sure to look out for us. We couldn't let you forget us after Clearing now could we?

As October open days pass we start preparing for 16 November open days at our Luton and Bedford campuses. It's always interesting and fun to meet nervous potential students and their encouraging parents. Reminds me of when my mum and I started looking at universities. I remained quiet and my mum would push me forward slightly saying 'You're the one applying not me, say something'. It's the best way to find out everything you want to know about where you will be spending some of the most important years of your life. Not to worry though, just remember everyone is in the same boat.

I recently attended a CASE Publications Forum in London. It's always great to escape the office for a day to network and see what more you can learn in the world of marketing. The importance of publications, working with agencies and story telling are the main areas we covered. I came away with many interesting points to feedback to the team, whether it was reassurance we are on the right track or learning something knew. It was definitely beneficial for all who attended.

Amongst the daily race we are running there has to be some fun right? So I've recently found a new hobby... snowboarding! Well I've done level 1 and level 2 this weekend. Not quite flying down mountains and doing tricks just yet but that's all in good time. All I can say is if your skiing or snowboarding next year...be careful on the slopes! I may be hurtling past you. So if you see someone screaming, zipping past you and they are still standing, that's not me. If you see someone screaming and rolling past you..bingo!

Wish me luck!

Clearing the way

By Sarah Hampton - Marketing Manager

In my last post, back in July, I mentioned that we’d started off the preparation for our 2015 publications. Well, a lot has happened since then. The briefs have been written, the print specs have been set, and our tender has now officially gone out with the help of the University’s procurement team. It’s all very exciting. So, it’s over to the creative agencies now to impress us with their designs. Our creative pitches are due next month, and so we’ll be able to bring you more details on the tender then – so continue to watch this space as we keep you informed.

Tube car panels - London underground
We’re now well into this years’ clearing campaign, but then you already knew that didn’t you? Our campaign has been bigger and better than ever, and we’re getting a lot of fantastic, positive comments from staff and students alike, as they see their University’s presence out en masse in the community. Last week Michelle and I took a trip down to London to meet with CBS Outdoor, as they gave us a run through of all of our media platforms where we could see our campaign running live – it was also a great opportunity to see what all of our competitors are doing, and how we compare! As marketers, we’re always keen to be sussing out the competition and benchmarking the work that we do on our quest for perfection.

Your Guide to Starting
with us - 2013
Clearing has definitely been a big team effort. Rehanna has also been busy over the last few weeks with our publication that is sent to all new starters, entitled Your Guide to Starting with us. This publication was delivered to our Admissions team ready to send out with our student offer letters on results day. Since it was printed, we have had a lot of colleagues from the wider University getting in touch to tell us what they think (all very positive, of course!), and wanting to get more involved in this key publication, which is great for us! We’re always keen to involve others in our work. It's the first year that we have sent this to both Undergraduate and Postgraduate students, so we're very interested to see what our students think. Take a look at the online version of this guide.

Time to celebrate!
In other news, I'm very pleased to share with you that earlier today I was appointed to the permanent role of Marketing Manager for the University of Bedfordshire - yay me! I'm very excited to get my teeth into this new role and look forward to being able to inject my creativity into our upcoming plans and projects - so be sure to keep your eye on this blog as we share ideas and tackle next years' marketing challenges. For my first week as the new manager I'll be off to the Case Conference in Manchester to soak up lots of knowledge and network with other Marketers in the sector, so if you too will be at the Case Conference, don't be a stranger!

One month in and busy with exciting Graduation, Clearing and other campaigns

By Scott Buist – Marketing Assistant

Well what can I say? It’s been a busy four weeks since I started working within the University’s marketing team and I’ve settled in well. I feel I understand the dynamics of the team now and have a much better understanding of the University and how it operates.

As a team we have all been very busy with various different projects which we are running. Namely our subject guides which are now almost finished. We’re working closely with our in house designer to make sure they’ve got the most up-to-date and exciting information in them, ready to send to our Undergraduate students later in September. The main difference this year is that they’re going to be digital versions only, so watch this space for when they go live on our website. As mentioned in the previous blog posts, our 2014 prospectus has been put to bed and is with the printers – we’re really excited to see the printed thing after all of this time. Plans are now well underway for our 2015 publications; plan early as they say!

I am currently working on our award-winning e-zine: PG Life, which we send to our Postgraduate enquirers and subscribers each month, and so far it’s going well. I’ve been out and about on campus this week interviewing some of our students which you’ll be able to see in the next issue. We are working to a tight deadline but I am sure we will succeed. Sign up via: www.beds.ac.uk/pgstudy if you’re not already subscribed. And, if you have any University news and stories to share with us, let us know – we’re always on the hunt for exciting content to share with our prospective students.

Normally it would be Sarah and Lauren who produce the e-zine, but for the next month or so it’s all down to me! I wanted to say a huge congratulations to Lauren who having completed a degree in digital media; her move over to our digital team seems like a natural career path for her and I am sure she will love it and, it’s only a stone’s throw away from us at the moment, so I am sure we will be able to benefit from her expertise.

With Clearing about to kick off this week (15 August to be precise), I am sure that the next few weeks will keep us all as busy, if not more so than we have already been.

Celebrations, campaigns and clearing

By Sarah Hampton - Marketing Manager

Our blog posts are coming in thick and fast, and we’re very excited to be sharing an insight into all of our work and the many projects that we’re working on at the moment.

Postgraduate 2014 Prospectus
This week has seen the culmination of five months’ hard work come to an end, as we approve the 2014 Postgraduate Prospectus for print. Working on our prospectuses forms a key part of the work we do here in the Marketing team, and so we were very pleased to get another one under our belt this week. At the time of writing this blog post our latest prospectus has made its way over to Mansfield (where our external printer is based) and is currently on press. Here’s a sneak peek (left) at the cover. You can also flick through it online – we hope you will all like it as much as we do!

Just as one project comes to an end, another one begins. And the fact that we are already preparing for our next Undergraduate Prospectus, for 2015 entry, is an incredibly scary thought. More on this in future posts, as we approach the Prospectus tender stage and the creative pitches – my favourite time of the year!

For any of you who happened to be at our graduation ceremonies last week, I’m sure you will have seen a member of the Marketing team roaming around, armed with a video camera and microphone as we join in on the festivities of the day. Scott and Lauren ventured out to interview some of our graduates at both our Luton and Putteridge Bury campuses last week, and spoke to some of our graduates about their time at Bedfordshire. They were also on a mission to capture the fantastic buzzy atmosphere that comes with celebrating our students’ success. You’ll be able to see the video interviews in the next issue of our award-winning monthly e-zine, Postgraduate Life. If you’re not already subscribed to receive it then fear not, as you can sign up here.

August is by far one of our busiest months for us as we prepare for Clearing. The team has been hard at work for the last few months; working with creative agencies to develop our campaign visuals; our key messages; arranging photo shoots; and devising and costing out the activities that will form our marketing campaign for this years’ Clearing period. Since some of our visuals have now gone live, we can exclusively share some highlights with you. We currently have some outdoor media up and running including bus advertising, both in the local area and in London. Keep looking out for other aspects of our campaign over the coming weeks, and be sure to let us know what you think.

All change!

By Lauren Hague - Marketing Assistant

Well what can I say, no week in marketing is ever the same, and I can definitely say that for the past week!

Firstly we have shortlisted for another award, this time the CIPR PRide awards for the Best External Publication for our Postgraduate Prospectus!

We are all very proud. Not only does a lot of work go into the finished publication but the actual award submissions can be pretty grueling too. You often have to prove how you have met the objectives set and prove why the publication was not only successful but innovative too. This sometimes involves a great deal of number crunching and some (a lot of) pestering of our Market Research Manager for help with the research! (Thank you Andy!)  So it is always nice when our hard work pays off and we are shortlisted.
This week are nearing the sign off of the new postgraduate prospectus, which we are all very excited about, it, is always great to see a project completed (and off our desks!) Just in time to start working on the revamp of the UCMK prospectus.

Me, Rehanna and Scott are also currently working on updating 13 subject guides between us. These are designed to show prospective undergraduate students what is going on in their subject area they are interested in. They contain news stories, student profiles, what courses are available, what the facilities are like and staff updates. I like doing these kinds of jobs as it means a lot of liaising with different departments and is a great way to update your knowledge about what is going on around the University, which is vital when you are working in marketing.
Bye Bye Marketing pod! :(

In other news… it’s all change again in the team as I will be leaving *sob *sob. I have accepted a position in the Digital Marketing Team as Digital Marketing Officer. I won’t be going too far (3 rows of desks to be exact) and will still be working closely with the team but in digital capacity instead. I am very excited about taking on the role and to get stuck in. I did my degree in Digital Media Design so digital communication is where my interest lies.
Hello Digital Marketing pod!

I have loved working in my team and will be sad not to be sitting with them anymore (which will just mean more lunches to catch up!),  I have learnt an enormous amount since I have started and great deal of that is down to the team taking the time and being patient enough to show me. Thank you!:-D

So overall I’d say a pretty good week all in all. Shortlisted for an award and a new job, can’t complain…

Musings of a marketing muse...

by Rehanna Khan - Marketing Assistant

Hi Everyone
It’s Wednesday 24 July which officially marks two weeks since the big move into The Atrium and though it’s not been without its little dramatic moments, the process has been auspiciously smooth! From overcharged air conditioning (which is appreciated in sweltering temperatures but not-so-much when causing sore throats, headaches and the shivers), to out-of-use ladies WCs (we were kindly given use of the gents – and they were redirected downstairs), is about as bumpy as the ride got. I’m glad to report we’re all settled in now and enjoying the new open surroundings. Drop by sometime and we’ll be happy to give you a tour.

Welcome publication cover
This is always a busy time of year for Marketing – as is most of the year bar when we’re on leave. We’re always on the go with something to do so there’s never a dull moment. From conversion activities in full swing, our clearing campaign on the ready, to the Postgraduate Prospectus 2014 on the verge of being sent to print, updating thirteen subject guides and preparing the welcome (Hi) publication for new students, there’s really no time for a summer siesta!

Prayer congregation in mosque
In other news… It’s day 15 of the holy month of Ramadan - meaning we’ve hit the midway mark already, leaving just 14 days. I admit it’s difficult to be in a state of nil-by-mouth for 18 hours on average per day, but then it wasn’t designed to be easy. Ramadan is the opportunity for Muslims to foster a sense of self-awareness and reflect on our lives. It offers the time to grow for the better and focus on the spiritual aspects of everyday life through practicing patience, discipline, compassion for the less fortunate and gratitude for what we have. The global unity is what always strikes me.

Have a blessed day!

Away we go!

By Michelle Ramsumair, Marketing Administrator

Our new office - Atrium
Change is good they usually say, and this week proved no different. We are now settled into our new spacious office in the Atrium! Obviously we had the initial big decisions about how we want our desks and which crate to unpack first, but everyone seems happy. I do believe we need some scooters or segways to get around it though, can only dream right?

This is our home for the next few years whilst the big redevelopment of the University’s LRC is taking place.

UCMK prospectus cover
The new University Campus Milton Keynes (UCMK) prospectus has been printed and was given out at the UCMK launch yesterday. This is just a snapshot of the front cover, but do look out for it on the website www.ucmk.ac.uk

Never having been so involved in the production of a prospectus it was definitely a challenge for me, but a learning experience as it went on. Can’t help but feel proud seeing the final publication.

Clearing is also rapidly approaching and all hands on deck is the expression that’s probably most suitable.  It is an interesting time of the year where nothing is certain as to what the results of our efforts may be. Nonetheless, we push on with our creative juices flowing, ready to tackle anything that comes our way.

After all that’s what Marketing is about!

Meet the Marketing Team

By Sarah Hampton, Marketing Manager

Hi everyone! For all of you that don’t yet know me, I’m the Interim Marketing Manager within the central Marketing team. For our first blog post I thought it would be a good idea to tell you a little bit about what we do, and what you can expect to read on this blog.

But first things first, let’s introduce you to the team:

The Marketing Team:  Beverley Hoare, Sarah Hampton,
Michelle Ramsumair, Lauren Hague and Rehanna Khan.
Beverley Hoare – Deputy Director of Marketing
Beverley manages the Marketing, Digital Marketing, Telemarketing and Market Research teams and functions at the University of Bedfordshire. She’s responsible for strategic marketing planning, management of market research to inform strategic planning and management of through the line campaigns. And, she also oversees all aspects of brand management and development.

Sarah Hampton – Marketing Manager
I’ve been part of the Marketing team for six years now and am indeed a prospectus veteran, having clocked up more than 12 during my time here to date, soon to be 13 (watch this space for more information on this).  You’ll mostly find me lurking in our fabulous new Postgraduate Centre for a meeting and a hot chocolate, devising our marketing plans, and doing some serious number crunching at my desk to evaluate all of our activity.

Rehanna Khan – Marketing Assistant
Rehanna joined the team back in 2009 and is our current resident expert in all things undergraduate; focusing on a wide range of important activities from open events and conversion activities, to publications, photo shoots and profiling.

New Postgraduate website launched
earlier this year
Lauren Hague – Marketing Assistant
Lauren joined the University in 2011 and at the time of writing this blog post, is half way around the world on a holiday of a lifetime, as she backpacks her way around central America. Since joining the team, Lauren has been working on our Postgraduate campaigns and has even re-launched a brand-new Postgraduate website

Michelle Ramsumair – Marketing Administrator
Michelle joined our Marketing team in 2011. Prior to this, she worked with us for many years as an intern whilst completing her undergraduate studies at Bedfordshire. She’s a team member with many talents, having worked on our on-campus branding and signage, media buying, and most recently a bespoke publication to launch our new Milton Keynes campus (more on this later this week).

So that’s who we are, but what exactly do we do I hear you say. Well that’s the purpose of this very blog. Every day in the Marketing team is different as there’s so many projects going on, all with one main goal: to provide a first-class service to our potential students, and staff members.

So be sure to keep checking back here regularly to read about our awards and achievements (a great nod to best practice), as well as some key projects that we’re introducing to benefit individual courses and departments, as well as the University as a whole. And, if you like what you see and want to know more, be sure to get in touch, we’re just a hop, skip and a jump away from another meeting with the promise of hot chocolate! J
